As of this morning, Evelyn is officially a dual Spanish/American citizen.

No, I’m not referring to the blog itself, although given my sporadic updates, I can see how you might come to that conclusion. In this case, I mean the whole process of remembering how to change diapers, burp after feedings, etc. after 4.5 years of gradually falling out of practice.

The reason behind all of this is the arrival of little Evelyn Rose Gladman Artal, born on November 5th, 2012 at 12:30pm. She weighed 3.65 kg (a hair over 8 lbs.), measured 48 cm, and so far seems to be a very relaxed but resilient baby. At the risk of jinxing it, during her first three weeks of life she’s rarely cried, has eaten and slept well, and puts up with the usual indignities of being a baby with surprising ease. Big sister Sofia now seems practically enormous next to her, and so far seems to be happy with her new role in the family. Mommy and Daddy are still moderately-sleep deprived, and Amy is still recovering from the cesarean, but we’re still very happy that Evelyn is finally here.
